WHO CANNOT RECEIVE KAMBO (CONTRAINDICATIONS)

WHO CANNOT RECEIVE KAMBO

Important Safety Information

Kambo is a powerful traditional cleansing medicine that works on the physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual levels.
While it supports many people on their healing journey, there are certain medical conditions and temporary situations where Kambo must be avoided for safety.

Your wellbeing is always my highest priority.

ABSOLUTE CONTRAINDICATIONS

These conditions mean Kambo cannot be given under any circumstances.

• Serious heart conditions (including valve issues, enlarged heart, arrhythmias, pacemakers)
• History of stroke, brain haemorrhage, or aneurysm
• Severe hypertension (uncontrolled high blood pressure)
• Severe hypotension (very low blood pressure)
• Current chemotherapy or recent radiation treatment
• Pregnancy (any stage)
• Breastfeeding (until baby is at least 6 months and no longer dependent)
• Organ transplant or use of immunosuppressant medication
• Epilepsy or seizure disorders
• Addison’s Disease
• Severe mental health instability (psychosis, schizophrenia, current suicidal crisis)
• Active drug or alcohol intoxication
• Certain medications that interact dangerously with Kambo (screened during intake)

TEMPORARY CONTRAINDICATIONS

These do not permanently exclude someone; Kambo can be received once the situation resolves.

• Recent surgery (within 6–12 weeks, depending on the procedure)
• Severe dehydration or electrolyte imbalance
• Active infection requiring antibiotics
• Active asthma attack (Kambo can be received once fully stable)
• Fasting for more than 24 hours before the session
• Recent recreational substance use
• Fever or flu-like symptoms
• Recent blood donation (within 4 weeks)
• Extremely low BMI (assessed individually)
• Heavy menstruation (personal preference — not a medical issue)

MEDICATIONS THAT REQUIRE A 24–60 HOUR CLEARING PERIOD

(Some require longer depending on half-life; I will guide each person individually.)

• Antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs*)
• Anti-anxiety medication (benzodiazepines)
• Sleeping tablets
• Blood pressure medication
• Diuretics (“water tablets”)
• Certain pain medications
• Lithium
• Some stimulant/ADHD medications

*MAOIs and certain antidepressants are strict contraindications unless safely discontinued under supervision.

EMOTIONAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

Kambo can be very supportive for people navigating:

✓ trauma
✓ PTSD
✓ anxiety
✓ depression
✓ emotional blockages
✓ energetic stagnation
✓ intrusive thoughts
✓ nervous system patterns
✓ long-held pain stored in the body

Many people — including myself — have experienced profound emotional and psychological relief through Kambo.

However, Kambo may need to be postponed if someone is currently experiencing:

• an acute PTSD flashback
• a panic attack at the moment of assessment
• active suicidal crisis right now
• severe dissociation that prevents grounding
• psychosis, hallucinations, or loss of contact with reality
• emotional overwhelm that makes the process unsafe

These are temporary states, not permanent barriers.
Once stabilised, many people find Kambo deeply healing and transformative.

WHY SAFETY SCREENING MATTERS

Kambo temporarily shifts:

✓ heart rate
✓ blood pressure
✓ hydration levels
✓ electrolyte balance
✓ the nervous system
✓ lymphatic + fascia detox pathways

For most people, this is safe and cleansing — but for some conditions, it could be overwhelming.
Proper screening ensures every person receives Kambo in a way that is aligned, supported, and safe.
